Workshop details

The first day of the workshop begins with a couple of hours demo. Anna is going to paint one of her motives and demonstrate her unique technique for a broader audience. During “The friendly talk”, you have an opportunity to ask the artist questions. Light snacks will be served.

After a break, participants who bought tickets for the two-day workshop will stay for preparations for the upcoming workshop.

Participants during the two-day workshop will learn how to paint figures in costumes, ballerinas, and animals.

The skills that she is going to share:

  1. The principles of the wet-on-wet watercolor technique
  2. How to choose the materials for this technique and why they are so essential
  3. A few words about the colors and mixes
  4. How to create alive color tones
  5. The most important things about anatomy and the special anatomy of the ballet dancer
  6. A few tips about color and tone, and how to use them to show the difference in texture.

No prior knowledge of being able to draw is required.

During the course, you will receive individual support from Anna, based on your own level. Theory combines with practice.

Artist biography

Anna Ivanova

Anna Nuwka Ivanova (born 1984 in Kazan, Russia) is a self-taught artist working in watercolor and oil, specializing in portraiture, still life, landscapes, and animals. She graduated from art school in 1998 under the guidance of Suyurov F.A. and later earned a medical degree from Kazan State Medical University in 2008. Alongside pursuing art full-time, she teaches at the Moscow Pharmaceutical College and exhibits internationally, having won awards in watercolor—including the Shanghai International Watercolour Biennial and St. Petersburg watercolor competitions—and participated in major shows such as Fabriano in Aquarello in Italy.
